In this article we cover how to use, manage and set up Soundtrack player 3 which is our latest version. If you are using Soundtrack Player 1 or 2, please visit this article.
What is included in the box:
- 1 x Soundtrack Player
- 1 x Ethernet cable
- 1 x RCA Cable (male/male)
- 1 x Power Supply Unit (PSU) for your region
An introduction to the LED lights
The player has two LED lights. The left one indicates if there's an internet connection while the right one will show you if the music is playing.
The LED lights make it easy to know the connection status of your device. Here's what each color indicates about your player's connectivity status:
Trying to connect
When the player is trying to connect, the left LED light is orange.
Connected
Once the player is successfully connected, the left LED light will turn green.
Failed to connect
If the left LED light is flashing orange, the player has failed to connect to the internet using the ethernet cable.
Some possible reasons:
- Ethernet cable is not plugged in
- The player is configured with a local IP address (if DHCP)
- The player is not configured with a local IP address (if static)
- Can't connect to a local gateway
- Can't ping IP-number (TBD) to ensure internet access
- Can't connect and authenticate to SYB services. Read more about our technical requirements.
See here for a list of more LED light indications.
Setup guide
- Log in to business.soundtrackyourbrand.com, go to "locations" and choose the one you want to edit. Click on "pair player" and choose Hardware device. Enter the device ID found underneath the box.
- Connect the power cable. A light will show up on the front side of the box when it’s on.
- Connect the ethernet cable to give the streaming box Internet access, as well as an audio cable (RCA cable or 3.5mm audio cable) to your sound system.
- Enjoy the music! Your player will always stay up to date and download the latest software version automatically. Please note that it may take up to 15 minutes from when you've connected the network cable until the music starts playing.
Using static IP
If you're using static IP, you need to configure the player with your IP information.
1. Adjust this .json file with your own network information.
2. Copy the .json file to an empty USB-stick. Do not rename the file.
3. Restart the Soundtrack Player without an attached network cable. The LED should blink green and then orange to indicate it was successfully restarted.
4. Plug in the USB-stick into the Soundtrack Player and look for a green light from the LED lamps to confirm the settings are applied.
5. After you have seen the confirmation blinks, unplug the USB-stick and restart the Soundtrack Player by pulling the power cable out and plugging it back in.
