Humming, buzzing, or noise, is usually caused by an electrical issue. Luckily, there are a few things you can try that can help prevent this.
Check the Soundtrack Player
Firstly, to make sure that the Soundtrack Player isn’t causing these issues, please follow these steps:
- Unplug all audio cables connected to the player.
- Insert a pair of headphones into the front output, labeled with a (!).
- Start music playback through the Soundtrack Remote App.
If you hear the noise when playing through the headphone jack, try a different power output. If the issue persists, contact us. We're always happy to help. Make sure to include the troubleshooting steps taken, and let us know if you hear the noise between songs, or in the middle of a song.
Check the Soundtrack Player
If you experience noise regardless of the music source, the next step is to check your audio equipment. Here are some steps you can try:
- Make sure that all equipment is connected to the same power outlet. This can be done with a power strip or a surge protector. This lowers the risk of so-called Ground Loops, the most common cause for humming and buzzing.
- Make sure that all cables are intact, and correctly inserted, and remove any cables that are not connected.
- Avoid having any electrical gadgets running on AC (alternate current) connected to the same power outlet.
- Move your equipment to another power outlet.
