Using Line in on Sonos?
Line in is an audio input available on some Sonos products that allows you to connect a Soundtrack Player to your Sonos system. The benefits with the setup is that you get full Schedule and Messaging support. Click here to read more about how it works.
Play the same music from all your Sonos speakers
To play the same music from different Sonos speakers connected to the same Wi-Fi, you will only need one zone. You will need to group the rooms. Read about grouping rooms here.
Play different music in each room
If you have multiple Sonos speakers you can choose to group rooms to hear the same music, or you can listen to different music in each room.
Each unique music stream will need its own zone to play from. Make sure you have as many zones available on the location you paired to Sonos as you plan to have unique music streams:
-
Add as many zones to your location as you need in Soundtrack. Here you can learn how to add a zone.
-
In the Sonos app, add the “Soundtrack Player” service and follow the on-screen instructions to connect a location to your Sonos. You can find instructions on how to add Soundtrack via this page.
-
Whenever you press Play on something in Sonos, an available zone will automatically be chosen to play from.
- To change between your speakers, simply pull up the speaker at the bottom in Sonos and click on the preferred Sonos room.
Examples
You have two rooms - “bar” and “restaurant”.
Example 1
You want to listen to the same music in these rooms, so you group them together in the Sonos app. You play music from Soundtrack in the Sonos app to this group. Only one zone is needed.
Example 2
You want to listen to Pop FM in the bar, but listen to classical music in the restaurant. Select each room and play the music you want in the Sonos app. Two zones will be needed since you are using two unique streams of music.
Features
Control the music remotely
You don’t need a specific device at your business to run the music. You and your staff can control the music through your own devices.
To control your Sonos system, you must be connected to the same Wi-Fi as your Sonos. Select “add to existing Sonos system” while on the same Wi-Fi to control the music.
Schedule
Sonos offers its own scheduling feature similar to the Soundtrack schedule feature. You can set an “alarm” to start playing music at a certain time. Learn more about setting an alarm here.
* The Alarm feature is currently not available in the Sonos mobile app. We don't have an estimated time for when the feature will be available again. We will post any updates here.
Shuffle & Crossfade
When using Sonos, all playlists and stations are played in shuffle mode.
Please note that the crossfade setting can only be adjusted within the Sonos app and cannot be changed from Soundtrack.
